Jaded generation.

I started this piece in my 4D Animation class when COVID hit. It was based on the culmination of ever-growing world problems my generation feels it is inheriting and the overwhelming stress that many young people feel to the point of depression. My dark sense of humor came up with creating a parody about a jaded Gen Z who dies in his sleep, and when he realizes he’s gone to hell, is indifferent. Because as life on Earth seems to get bleaker and bleaker every year, hell doesn’t seem so bad.

However, in the recent social and political climate, I thought it’d be in bad taste to finish this piece because the reality is that a white male with privilege is not the one should be “tired of this existence" when so many other social groups have so much less. Until I can create a more hopeful, poignant story, this will remain temporarily, maybe permanently unfinished.

The Devil

This Devil is relatively basic compared to what you see in current pop culture, with a catch. He’s sly, eloquent and sinister; the works. But what’s different about this Devil is that he loses his mind by the end of the skit. He tries and fails over and over to torture our main character, Chris. but nothing phases him. The deceased college student finds a way to explain that its not so bad, whether it be getting burned alive or being beheaded. Slowly the devil realizes he is the one being tortured, and not the other way around. Outraged, he gives his final punishment to Chris by sending him back to the living world and making him immortal. Cursed to watch humanity ruin what is has until the world ends.
